Easy Bread Blueberry Filled Sweet Rolls

October 9, 2026

Soft, fluffy, slightly sweet rolls filled with blueberry jam and dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients (makes 8–12 rolls)

Dough

  • ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ⅓ cup (100 g) sweetened condensed milk (or 3 Tbsp sugar + 2 Tbsp milk powder)
  • 2¼ tsp (7 g) instant yeast
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3 Tbsp (42 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3–3¼ cups (360–390 g) bread flour or all-purpose flour

Filling

  • ½–¾ cup good-quality blueberry jam or preserves
  • Optional: 1 tsp lemon zest or a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness

Finish

  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Make the dough
In a large bowl or stand mixer, whisk together the warm milk, condensed milk, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
Add the egg, softened butter, salt, and 3 cups flour. Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead 8–10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky. Add a little more flour only if needed.
  2. First rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1–1½ hours.
  3. Shape & fill
Punch down the dough and divide into 8–12 equal pieces.
Flatten each piece into a small circle or oval. Place 1–2 teaspoons of blueberry jam in the center.
Pinch the edges tightly to seal so the filling doesn’t leak. Shape into a smooth ball.
Arrange the filled rolls seam-side down in a greased 9×13-inch pan or on a baking sheet, placing them close together.
  4. Second rise
Cover and let rise until puffy, 40–60 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until deep golden brown.
  6. Finish
Brush the hot rolls with melted butter.
Let cool for 10–15 minutes, then dust generously with powdered sugar.
    Serve warm.

Tips

  • Seal the rolls very well so the jam doesn’t leak during baking.
  • For less sweetness, use regular milk + sugar instead of condensed milk.
  • These are best eaten the same day. Reheat gently and dust with more powdered sugar if needed.
  • You can also use other jams (strawberry, raspberry, or mixed berry).

Soft, jam-filled, and lightly sweet. Enjoy!
