A simple no-yeast bread that comes together fast using baking powder.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm water
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until it comes together.
- Shape into a round or oval loaf and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cut 3 diagonal slits on top of the dough.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
Tips for better results
- Don’t over-knead — this is a quick bread, not a yeast dough.
- For a softer crumb, brush the hot loaf with melted butter right after baking.
- Best eaten the same day. It doesn’t keep as well as yeast bread.
- You can add herbs, garlic powder, or cheese for extra flavor.
Simple, fast, and ready in about 20 minutes. Enjoy!
