Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 3 tsp sugar
- 1 package rapid-rise yeast
- 1 cup warm water ($110^\circ\text{F}$)
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Start the Yeast Mixture
- In a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag (such as a gallon Zip-loc bag), combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, rapid-rise yeast, and warm water.
- Seal the bag, squeezing out excess air, and gently mix with your hands until smooth.
- Let the bag sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Step 2: Add Remaining Ingredients & Knead
- Open the bag and add the olive oil, salt, and the remaining 2 cups of flour.
- Reseal the bag and knead by squeezing and massaging the dough in the bag until a cohesive dough forms.
Step 3: Shape & Let Rise
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly by hand until smooth.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan.
- Cover lightly and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Step 4: Bake
- Preheat your oven to $375^\circ\text{F}$ ($190^\circ\text{C}$).
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let it cool slightly before slicing!
